WE NEED YOU TO JOIN THE PTA !!!

We encourage MORE Parents and Teachers to join and support the PTA. Our children will benefit a lot more through the involvement of Parents and Teachers. Thank you to the Parents and Teachers who are members and are participating in making the PTA work for our children. A. In fact, we are having a PTA Membership Drive.

Membership Drive Pushes Forward !!!

Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor Daisy Besabe:

The Treeview/Bidwell School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has kicked off with over (60) sixty members and counting. Rooms: 2, 4, 6, 8 & 15 are in the running for an Ice Cream Party to be awarded to the 1st classroom in each grade with a 100% membership, including the teacher. Every classroom has a flower in the Multipurpose Room with their room number on it.

The flower will bloom (a petal for every parent), only if the parents become members and the center of the flower will be added, when the teacher/s joins the PTA.

The contest will continue until the end of October.

Parents and Teachers, get those membership envelopes turned in by October 31 to be counted for the Ice Cream Party Contest !!!

We Need Everyone To Get Involved !!!

Help us Bloom !!!

HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS
  • Make sure children can walk in their costume without entangling their feet.
  • Use light colors, decals or reflective tape on costumes & bags for better visibility. A flashlight is a must!
  • Since masks may obscure vision, face make-up is recommended.
  • Be certain young ones are accompanied by an adult. A good ratio is one adult to four children.
  • Give older children (those who trick-or-treat without an adult) coins and tell them to call if there is a problem or if they'll be late.
  • Instruct children to walk on sidewalks, not streets. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the road facing traffic.
  • Have kids save their candy so it can be checked.
  • Parents should examine all treats. Report anything suspicious to the police.

    API Plaque

Dr. Cynthia LeBlanc, Interim Superintendent of the Hayward Unified School District, presented a plaque to Treeview/Bidwell for meeting and exceeding its Academic Performance Index (API).

    Halloween Carnival !!!

The PTA is hosting a Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 28, from 2:00pm - 7:00pm at Treeview. Thank you to the new Halloween Bazaar (joint) Chairpersons Scott Ferreira & Jacquelyn Surette for volunteering for this position.

The carnival will include 10-12 game booths, a haunted house, a costume parade and contest, face painting, lots of prizes, a food court, a cake walk, a 50/50 $$$ raffle and "Pictures with the Principal".

We need many more volunteers to assist with the game areas and to help set up, clean up and bake cakes for our cake walk. You may volunteer by contacting your child's teacher or by sending an email to jacquelyn_surette@key3media.com.

This is sure to be an exciting, fun-filled fund-raiser for all. And the best part.......all the proceeds go directly to each classroom for our students! Please help us, help our children.

    CHAIRPERSON NEEDED !!!

The PTA needs a Chairperson for the Holiday Bazaar. The PTA would like to have a low cost Holiday Bazaar for children to do their Christmas Shopping, but we need someone to chair the committee.

If you are interested, please leave a message at the office or come to the PTA Meeting.

    Treeview/Bidwell Blue Fridays !!!

Every Friday is Treeview/Bidwell Blue Day. We celebrate this by wearing Blue Shirts. These Shirts come in all sizes. There are even Adult Sizes! We also have Polo Shirts and Sweatshirts. The shirts are available for purchase at the office and profits benefit the Student Council.

    • Adult T-shirt - $9.00
    • Adult Sweatshirt - $15.00
    • Adult Polo Shirt - $30.00

    Fundraising Support

This year we are doing several year long fundraisers which are more focused on our school getting more $$money$$ based on your everyday purchases and only one that involves selling to others.

    Our year long fundraisers are:

    • Albertson’s Free Community Partnership Cards
    • Schoolpop.com (Register and start shopping)
    • E-Scrip ( Register your Safeway, ATM, Credit Cards, Chevron Cards, etc.,)
    • Paper Scrip (Order every other Wednesday. Orders ready for pick up by next Wednesday) < UPDATE >
    • Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: Cards for $20.00 (Buy any dozen doughnuts, get a dozen glaze doughnuts free, up to 12 free dozen) < UPDATE >
    • Target Store Credit Card (Register your school on your Target Credit Card and a percentage of your purchase goes to the school)
    • General Mills/Betty Crocker Box Tops for Education (collect the box tops of the boxes and send to school)

The one time only fundraisers are:

    • Masterpiece Cookie Dough (starts Oct.23)
    • Math-a-Thon (sometime in January 2001)
    • Walk-a-Thon (around Spring 2001)

The PTA’s goal is to raise $15,000.00 to benefit our school and children’s education. If we reach our goal with these fundraisers, then we don’t need to sell anything in the Spring. We are counting on all of you to help us reach this goal.

Order from the Banana Slug String BandThe Banana Slugs String Band

The PTA was happy to bring “The Banana Slugs String Band” to Treeview & Bidwell last Oct. 17th. Ask your children how much fun they had doing “The Water Cycle Boogie or Being a Tree.” This is just one way your children are benefiting from your PTA dollars. Keep doing those fundraisers so we can afford to have more wonderful assemblies!.
