WHO?
The PTA (parent teacher
association) is a group of regular parents, working and non working, and
teachers who work together to make the school a more fun place, raise funds
for essential items and work to improve the partnership between parent/student
and teacher.
WHY?
If we all pitch in for a few minutes to an hour or more, we can continue
to make
our school one of the best and top schools in Hayward. All school districts
are in deep financial crisis; we as parents must step forward to help our
children’s schools. Research has
shown that when parents are involved students have higher grades, better
attendance, higher self esteem and a decreased use of alcohol and drugs.
The kids love to
see their own parents helping at school.
Make new friends and get to know the teachers.
WHERE?
Anywhere
you like. At
home, in school, the park or anywhere.
WHEN?
Whenever
you like.
HOW?
Here are some ways you can help:
JOIN THE PTA:
voice your
opinions, vote on issues, and bring new ideas.
Membership is $5 per person which covers national and local fees.
ROOM PARENT: this is a new role
that we are trying to establish and will be a co-coordinator between the
parents of one class and the teacher and PTA.
Each individual teacher will be able to give a better idea of how
they want the room parent to work.
